Head CoachMarty Wahle
Marty Wahle was named the new head coach of the men’s and women’s swimming & diving program at Hendrix College in August 2014.
In his first year with the Warriors, Wahle's Warriors broke three school records. Both teams made significant improvements at the Southern Athletic Association Championships from the regular season. The men improved their times by 6.5 percent and the women improved by 4.7 percent. Both marks were the best in the league.
Wahle took over the helm of the Warriors after spending two seasons as the head coach at Ripon College in Ripon, Wis. Under his guidance, the Red Hawks broke 17 school records, while both programs had their highest finishes at the Midwest Conference meet since 2006.
Before Ripon, Wahle served as an assistant swim coach at Misericordia University in Dallas, Penn., where he was also the men's team recruiter. In his two years at Misericordia, Wahle saw his team's swimmers break 32 school and four conference records.
Wahle graduated Cum Laude from Minnesota State University, Mankato in December 2009 with a B.S. in Elementary Education. While at Mankato, he was a 16-time NCAA Division-II All-American on the swim team from 2007-09 and participated in the 2008 Olympic Trials in the 200 yard backstroke. Minnesota State, Mankato's Most Valuable Male Athlete during the 2008-09 school year, Wahle served as the team captain and was the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee representative for three years. He was also a three-time Academic All-American. Wahle went on to receive his M.A. in Education from Misericordia in 2012.
Wahle has been a camp counselor at a number of locations, including Camp Greylock in Becket, Mass., the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley, Colo., Colorado State in Fort Collins, Colo. and Loveland Sports Day Camp in Loveland, Colo. The past three summers, Wahle has been the Assistant Camp Director at the Maverick Swim Camps in Mankato. As a camp counselor, Wahle served as an assistant swim coach, on-deck assistant coach and dry-land coordinator.
Bri Cone was hired in September 2013 to be the Hendrix College men's and women's swimming & diving assistant coach and the Bob Courtway Pool Coordinator.
In her first season with the Warriors, Cone coached three all-conference selections and broke two school records. In her second season, Hendrix broke three school records. Cone, from Joliet, Ill., swam competitively for 16 years and was a four-year letterwinner for Carthage College in Kenosha, Wis. She served as team captain during her senior year.
From 2011-13, Cone worked as a wilderness guide at Expeditions Unlimited, a Christian youth wilderness camp, in Baraboo, Wis.. She built an Outdoor Education program which taught outdoors skills such as rock climbing, canoeing, camping and team building to schools.
Cone graduate from Carthage in 2011 with a B.A. in Biology with an emphasis on wildlife research.
